Who am I?

Experience- I hold a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Cal State University, Hayward in Human Development with a specialized option certificate in Child Development.  I worked as a teacher in a large family daycare for five years and then was a licensed family daycare provider for two years while finishing up school. After I graduated, I took time off to get married and have a family of my own. When my youngest child was two years old, I went back to work as a 3-year-old preschool teacher at Baymonte Christian Preschool. I continue to take classes in Early Childhood Education to stay current in the field.

About Me- My husband and I have been married for 30 years and we have three children, two boys and a girl ages 27, 25, and 23.  My husband and I are rediscovering how to spend time without kids around all the time, going out to dinner and hanging out which we are getting very used to!  In my spare time I enjoy making video slide shows with my family photos and gardening.

This July I will be starting my tenth year of providing childcare. I love my job and look forward to many more years serving this community!  Due to the high demand for infant care and positive response to my program, I have a waiting list for infants. In order to better serve the needs of our community I am licensed for 12 children, and  specialize in caring for infants and toddlers to help prepare them to be eager learners and confident little preschoolers. My license allows me to care for four infants under two years and eight children older than two years with an assistant. My main goal is to still provide quality, loving care for the littlest of our community and I continue to look forward to filling that void here in Scotts Valley.

My Staff:

I have five teachers who work alongside me. We are all CPR and First Aid certified, have clear background checks and have been fingerprinted. Our vaccinations are all up to date, as by law. Miss Laura (Lulu!) has been with me since I opened. She is a compassionate teacher who loves her time with the children, two mornings per week and also prepares our snacks and lunch. Miss Lexi has worked in my program for almost 4 years now. She is a fully qualified preschool teacher and splits her time between The Learning Workshop Preschool as the 3-year-old teacher in the mornings, and the afternoon teacher at Nikki's Childcare.  She can sure keep up with the level of energy the kids bring with her playful style!  Miss Samantha also works at both Nikki's Childcare and The Learning Workshop Preschool. She has many years of experience working in preschool settings in our county, has taken several ECE classes and is a qualified teacher and director. She has two children, ages 9 and 3.  Miss Alyssa has been working for me for two years now and is A-Mazing! The children love her kind, youthful and playful nature. She is also taking classes at Cabrillo while working here. Miss Hannah started working this past summer. She works part time at Nikki's and is a substitute aide at the Learning Workshop Preschool. In addition to this awesome group of women, We have one high schooler who occasionally comes by after school to help out in the late afternoon.  Miss Sammy is such a sweet and loving teacher to our little friends, who also happens to be Alyssa's sister and whom I had in my preschool class several years ago when she was three years old. Full circle for that one! We feel very lucky to have them!
